Some major international talents returned for the Ranji Trophy 2024–25, making themselves available for the domestic competition. In the competition against Jammu & Kashmir, the Mumbai team saw two international players, Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal, make a comeback, but they were unable to capitalize on the moment. Despite having a start in the second innings, neither of the openers reached the 30-run threshold after being dismissed on single-figure scores in the first.
One international talent, Shardul Thakur, has performed admirably with both bat and ball in both innings despite these setbacks.
In the first innings, Thakur scored 51 runs and took two wickets. However, he put up a fantastic display on Day 2 at Stumps, scoring 113* off 119 balls in the second innings.
The 33-year-old all-rounder asked the selectors why he wasn’t chosen after making these contributions.
“What qualities can I discuss? There should be more discussion about it. They ought to recognize that a person should be given more opportunities if they possess quality. I enjoy batting in challenging circumstances. Everyone performs well in favorable circumstances, but how you perform in unfavorable ones counts.
According to Livemint, Shardul stated, “I view difficult circumstances as challenges and constantly consider how to overcome that challenge.”
“Anything that has happened in the past must be forgotten; it will not alter. It’s critical to focus on the here and now while considering what you can do in the near future,” Shardul continued.
In relation to the game, the Mumbai innings is currently at 274/7, and Shardul Thakur and Tanush Kotian have once again formed a crucial eighth-wicket combination. Kotian has 119 deliveries and is on 58*. The two players’ partnership is at 173, and the Mumbai squad is ahead by 188 runs.
