In the fifth Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 match versus Gujarat Titans (GT), captain Shreyas Iyer of the Punjab Kings (PBKS) was unable to get his century. This was made possible by Shashank Singh’s brilliant cameo, in which he struck Mohammed Siraj for 22 runs in the final over. Six boundaries and two sixes were among the batter’s 44 runs from 16 balls.
The team put on a fantastic batting display, scoring 243 runs in the first innings. After winning the toss, GT captain Shubman Gill decided to field first. Priyansh Arya and Shreyas Iyer kept the game going after PBKS lost Prabhsimran Singh early on. Priyansh Arya, a rookie, too scored a 47 off 23 balls.
When Shashank hit four boundaries against Siraj in the final over, Iyer was at the non-striker’s end. Captain Iyer struck five boundaries and nine sixes during the match, playing a responsible yet entertaining knock. He didn’t spare the pacers either, but he was very effective against the spinners.
Despite having a strong start to his innings, Marcus Stoinis was unable to turn it into a significant one. In four overs, R. Sai Kishore gave up 30 runs and took three wickets for GT. He took out Glenn Maxwell and Azmatullah Omarzai in quick succession.

Shreyas Iyer deserves praise from Shashank Singh for inspiring him.
The middle-order batsman for PBKS, Shashank Singh, was simply amazing. When he came into bat in the sixteenth over, he executed a fantastic knock. Following the innings, he praised Shreyas Iyer for his outstanding knock, which inspired the batter to chase the bowlers closer to the end.
Yes, the cameo was well-executed. But I was even more inspired after seeing Shreyas. To be quite honest, “don’t worry about my hundred,” Shreyas stated at ball one. simply keeping an eye on the ball and responding to it. I strive to understand the boundaries. “It’s more likely that you won’t get a good hit when you go at that number,” Shashank Singh remarked following the innings.
