Shikhar Dhawan, a former batter for India, appeared to be playing exceptionally well in the Nepal Premier League 2024 (NPL) during his debut. While playing for Karnali Yaks in the tournament, the former Indian star batsman had a strong start but was unable to capitalise on it in the end.
The third game of the NPL 2024 pitted Karnali Yaks against Janakpur Bolts. The match took place on Monday, December 2 at the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur.
Shikhar Dhawan opened the innings for Yaks with 14 runs in the same number of deliveries.
In the process, he hit three fours, but he was unable to turn his score into a significant one. In an attempt to start strong, Dhawan appeared to be in the zone but fell short.
Speaking about the match, Yaks started the batting order and amassed 141 runs in the first innings, largely due to some crucial hits in the lower middle order. Arjun Gharti scored 33 runs, while Gulsan Jha scored 36. With two wickets to his credit, Mohammad Mohsin led the Bolts in wicket-taking efficiency. James Neesham, Harsh Thaker, Lalit Rajbanshi, and Kishore Mahato each claimed one wicket.
Bolts are able to win comfortably.
With Anil Sah and Aasif Sheikh hitting 62* and 36 runs, respectively, the Bolts began their innings with the goal of chasing down a target of 142 runs. Lahiru Milantha also contributed 24 runs, while James Neesham, with 16 runs, remained undefeated.
The game was won by eight wickets as the Bolts chased down the target in 15.1 overs. When it came to Yaks, Zeeshan Maqsood and Mousom Dhakal both claimed one wicket in the second innings. After losing the match, Shikhar Dhawan and his team will be hoping for a better showing in the tournament’s next round.
