Shoaib Akhtar made a blunder in referring to in-form Indian opener Abhishek Sharma as Bollywood star Abhishek Bachchan while assessing Pakistan’s chances of defeating Suryakumar Yadav and co. in Sunday’s Asia Cup final at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
Former Pakistan pacer Shoaib Akhtar believes Salman Ali Agha’s men can put India’s middle order under strain if they get rid of Abhishek Bachchan quickly.
While it was evident that he was referring to Abhishek Sharma, the mistake provided a light-hearted moment in the buildup to the tense encounter.
“What happens to Pakistan’s middle order if they get Abhishek Bachchan out early in a hypothetical situation? Their middle order has not done properly.” This gaffe had the host and the other panellists in stitches.
This incident was brought to Abhishek Bachchan’s attention, and the senior actor responded to a tweet by acknowledging that while he is not a brilliant cricketer, the Pakistan team will be unable to get him out.
Sir, with all due respect… don’t think they’ll even manage that! And I’m not even good at playing cricket. 🙏🏽 https://t.co/kTy2FgB10j
