Shoriful: I had to get into a groove and bowl better spells.

Jonathan Trott, the head coach of Afghanistan, laments "bad shots" from his batters in the third ODI.

Shoriful
After going for much in the Second ODI, when they let up 331 runs and lost by 142 runs to lose the series, the Bangladesh pace-bowling unit was eager to give a decent account of itself, according to Shoriful Islam. In the third game on Tuesday, the quicks were on point and bowled Afghanistan for 126 before chasing it down in 23.3 overs.

Despite being unable to complete his 10 overs due to cramping, Shoriful led the way for Bangladesh, delivering career-best figures of 4 for 21. In the bowlers’ meeting, he claimed, the second game had been discussed.

“The five of us [Taskin Ahmed, Mustafizur Rahman, Hasan Mahmud, Ebadot Hossain, and he] in the pace attack are like a family. We have mutual trust,” Shoriful stated. “We are being cycled so that each of us gets a turn in the matches. We are ready to perform at any time. In the bowlers’ meeting, we talked about [the second ODI performance]. We attempted to regain our groove. We discussed our efforts to bowl better spells.

“I have put a lot of effort into my training. I got some additional work from Hathu Sir. He gave me several demonstrations. When I was at home, he sent me bowling vids. I am presently using those while training. Being a part of a victory is always satisfying. I received a lot of encouragement from the group, especially Mushfiq bhai [Mushfiqur Rahim], who has been supporting me.

Although Afghanistan won the series 2-1, head coach Jonathan Trott wasn’t pleased with how his top-order batters played in the final game; they were 32 for 5 before reaching 126.

Trott stated, “We got out, the lads didn’t play, they didn’t adjust to the conditions, they played horrible shots. Today’s state of mind wasn’t good. This also occurred in the last game of the series, not for the first time. If we want to improve individually and as a team, we must address this.

We can’t keep counting on just one or two guys to score runs for us. Everyone must participate. The manner in which Azmat [Azmatullah Omarzai] applied himself at No. 7 served as an example of how one should approach batting on this surface. With a score of 53 unassisted, [Litton] Das demonstrated how to play on that wicket.
