The future of two of India’s mainstays, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, has been in doubt since the Test series against Australia. Both, however, are anticipated to play for India in the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy.
But should they keep playing? Kapil Dev, a former captain of India, feels that it is their personal right to decide to end their career.
On the fringes of a Chhattisgarh event, Kapil remarked, “They are terrific players. When they think it’s time to play, they will play, and when they think it’s not, they will call it off.
Rohit only got 31 runs in five innings and was forced to withdraw from the final Test match in Sydney, while Virat Kohli only managed 190 runs in the series.
Despite having already retired from T20 Internationals (T20I), Rohit and Kohli are still permitted to play in the 50-over format. Both of them should be included in the Champions Trophy team, which the BCCI is anticipated to reveal in the next few days, with Rohit leading the group.
