Shreyas Iyer discussed the Punjab Kings’ (PBKS) perspective after qualifying for the IPL 2025 Playoffs for the first time since the 2014 season by defeating Mumbai Indians (MI) in their last league stage encounter in Jaipur to take the points lead. PBKS will meet an equally strong RCB in Qualifier 1 in Mullanpur, Chandigarh, hoping to reach their first IPL final in 11 years.
Following their big victory over MI, PBKS shared a video on social media in which they interviewed the captain about playing in the playoffs. Iyer was overjoyed and proclaimed it to be a fantastic accomplishment for the players and the franchise. He also stated that their mindset was to win, and they were not thinking about the playoffs. He stated that the primary goal from the start was to win the title.
“Excited, to be honest. It’s a great achievement for the franchise and also for all the players. Their hard work has paid off. Right from Day 1, our mindset was to go out and win. We weren’t thinking about the playoffs; we were thinking about winning the championship, and that is our mindset,” said Iyer in the viral video posted by PBKs on their official ‘X’ handle.

PBKS and RCB will face off in IPL 2025 Qualifier 1.
Punjab Kings will face a difficult challenge in their upcoming home match, as RCB has been similarly excellent this season. Given the quality players on both sides, this might be one of the season’s best matches.
While PBKS’ successes have centred primarily on their batting, with good bowling performances from Arshdeep and others in select matches, RCB has done better as a unit, with several players stepping up to win games for their team.
PBKS has a home advantage, but their record in Mullanpur is not as excellent. RCB has not lost a game away from home in the IPL 2025 and is capable of defeating any side on any day. Iyer will be crucial both as a batter and as a captain, as PBKS has been a formidable unit under his guidance.
