Indian cricketer Shreyas Iyer got ‘clean bowled’ by his mother while playing in his house’s living room. Iyer’s mother was bowling to her son from where the video was being recorded.

Punjab Kings, Iyer’s current Indian Premier League franchise, were amongst the several accounts which posted the clip on their feed. Accompanying the video was a witty caption which read, “Only time SARPANCH won’t mind getting bowled! 😂♥️”.

Shreyas Iyer’s mother ‘clean bowled’ her son during a light-hearted living room combat.

The caption was a direct reference to the Sarpanch (village leader), a nickname given by PBKS’ devoted fans, for not being dissatisfied after being bowled. There has been a lot of discussion in the video’s comments section, with most parents applauding Iyer’s mother’s enthusiasm for the game.

Iyer had an excellent season with PBKS in the IPL 2025. He was expected to do well after being bought for INR 26.75 crore at the big auction. The big-money addition did not disappoint, leading the squad to the top of the table and their first final appearance since 2014. However, it was not meant to be for PBKS, who finished second after losing the final match to Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Iyer had an outstanding 604-run season, batting at 175.07 and hitting six fifties.

When it came to his international career, his non-selection to the 18-member Indian team for their current tour of England sparked quite a stir in the cricket fraternity. Despite a successful IPL season and regular performances for Mumbai in the local circuit, both in red and white ball, he was not selected. Ajit Agarkar, the BCCI’s chief selector, said that there were no openings in the team for the Mumbai batter.
