With 10 points from seven games, Gujarat Titans (GT) topped the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 table on Saturday, April 19, after defeating Delhi Capitals (DC) by an outstanding seven wickets in Ahmedabad.
Although GT managed to chase down 204 off the match’s last over, captain Shubman Gill thinks they would have been chasing more if the bowlers hadn’t drawn back.
“At one point, it appeared that the total would be between 220 and 230. We gave the bowlers credit for the way we retreated. We were right in the game and lost by only 10 runs, even though we were chasing almost 245 in the first game.
At the post-match presentation, Shubman Gill stated, “We’ve been defending and chasing well.”
Axar Patel, Gill’s opponent, lamented that his team was short by ten to fifteen runs. “We needed ten to fifteen runs. We continued to lose wickets when we attempted to speed. We were unable to complete as we had hoped. We bowled fairly well. Things might have been closer if we had been able to generate a couple more opportunities. It only took a handful of blows. “We won’t give this loss much thought,” Axar Patel declared.
DC is in a strong position on the IPL 2025 points table in spite of this defeat. When they play the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on Tuesday, April 22, they will be hoping to resume their winning ways. On Monday, April 21, GT will play the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), the reigning champions.
