Shubman Gill, the star Indian batsman, grabbed the show in Delhi once more, this time with a viral fan moment as well.
A female fan in the stands held up a banner stating “I love you Shubman” during the second Test against the West Indies at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, mimicking the classic “I love you Zaheer” scene from years ago. The cameras soon captured the sign, and the video went popular on social media.

Meanwhile, the 26-year-old extended his purple patch in red-ball cricket, scoring a brilliant 129 not out off 196 balls, his tenth Test century and sixth as captain. He also matched Virat Kohli’s record for the most Test hundreds by an Indian captain in a calendar year, surpassing Rohit Sharma’s total. His knock, which included 16 fours and two sixes, helped lead the home team’s first-inning total of 518 for five declared.
Gill’s innings followed a good contribution from Yashasvi Jaiswal (175) and B Sai Sudharsan (87). The duo’s efforts ensured that the team dominated proceedings from day one. Dhruv Jurel (44) and Nitish Kumar Reddy (43) both made important contributions before Gill chose to declare the innings midway through Day 2, following Jurel’s dismissal.
In reply, the West Indies reached 87 for 2 after 28 overs, still trailing by 437 runs. Alick Athanaze (38) and Tagenarine Chanderpaul (34) stabilized the innings after John Campbell (10) was dismissed, caught off B Sai Sudharsan’s helmet at short leg. For India, Ravindra Jadeja picked both the wickets, giving India a good chance to finish Day 2 well.
