Sunday, December 10, at Durban, is the first match of India’s three-match Twenty20 International series versus South Africa. On Wednesday, December 6, the Indian team traveled to the Rainbow Nation without Shubman Gill, Deepak Chahar, or vice captain Ravindra Jadeja.
Because Shubman Gill and Jadeja were involved in India’s demanding ODI World Cup 2023 campaign, they were rested for the five-match T20I series against Australia. They are anticipated to be included in the starting lineup and will arrive in Durban right before the opening game. Although they were rested for the ODIs, the pair was selected for the Test series as well.
While Shubman Gill is on vacation in the UK, the Saurashtra all-rounder has been touring Europe.
Deepak Chahar, on the other hand, has not traveled with the team despite being selected for the white-ball squads. Due to a medical emergency in his family, he departed the India vs. Australia series before the final game. There is currently no word on when the gifted pacer will join the team; his father is thought to be unwell. Though no replacement has been named as of yet, rumors have it that he will soon join the “Men in Blue.”
All three players have obtained the necessary authorization from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). There will also be a support staff member who arrives late. But before the first Twenty20 International, everyone is supposed to be with the team.
Two pickers will go to South Africa.
According to reports, SS Das and Salil Ankola, two selectors from BCCI, are traveling to South Africa. The Indian contingent will hold their first training session at the Kingsmead ground on Friday, December 8, following their arrival in Durban.
In addition, the South African ‘A’ squad and the Indian ‘A’ team will play three informal Test matches, with the first match scheduled for Monday, December 11. Cricket fans have a lot of thrilling cricket to look forward to in the upcoming weeks.
