The Gujarat Titans, although being a new IPL side, have already amassed a fan base thanks to a number of well-known players. The team’s top star, Shubman Gill, will be heading the franchise for the second time in the forthcoming event. Prior to the competition, the 25-year-old talked candidly about how he and his father first met Sachin Tendulkar earlier. As a child, Gill also recalled Glenn Maxwell being there and tossing balls to them during practice. He also said that the God of Cricket was the source of his inspiration to play cricket.
Together with my father, I recall going to three or four games at the Tau Devi Lal Stadium in Panchkula. For practice, the Mumbai Indians traveled there during the second or third year of the IPL. That would have been when I was nine or ten years old. I have a picture of Glenn Maxwell and Sachin Sir as well.
I threw balls to them as they were practicing. My earliest recollections of the IPL include these ones. Though I was already aware about Sachin Sir, I was still really anxious. I began to play cricket because of him. His biggest fan is my dad. Our town had Sachin’s posters, despite my dad’s lack of interest in them,” he stated on JioHotstar.
Leadership is an ongoing process, according to Shubman Gill
Additionally, Shubman Gill discussed his leadership development in the same interview. He also discussed his experience as a captain, the key elements that have aided in his development, and how he has learnt to manage the team’s players.
“I consider leadership to be an ongoing process. You learn something new every week and every match. Each player offers a unique perspective that teaches you about themselves as well as leadership. The secret for a leader is to know what makes each player perform at their peak.
Effective leadership involves managing each player, who is unique. Understanding their advantages and disadvantages as well as how to help them regain their form when they are having trouble is essential. As you play more, you gain more experience through both highs and lows, which helps you become a better leader,” Gill added.
Individual discussions with colleagues are crucial. I wasn’t the kind of person who would naturally interact in this way at first, but as a leader, I started to make an effort. Communicating with the players, learning about their thinking, and making sure they feel appreciated are crucial. Reaching out to the players gives them confidence and fosters a positive team atmosphere,” the GT captain continued.
