Shubman Gill, the top-ranked One-Day International (ODI) hitter, is hoping to use his experience from India’s 2023 World Cup final defeat to defeat New Zealand in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 final on Sunday, March 9, in Dubai.
In the lead-up to the Champions Trophy final, he stated, “Obviously, some nerves in that match.”
“I gained a great deal of knowledge.” I went to my first ICC Final. I was overjoyed.
Even though Shubman Gill only stayed at the crease for seven balls.
He felt like he was wasting time to establish his dominance over the game, something he does not want to do when he begins the batting with his captain, Rohit Sharma, again. “I felt like I was running out of time to dominate that game,” he added.
“You can give yourself a little bit more time than you think in big ICC knockout matches,” the speaker said.
After losing [the World Cup Final] in 2023, we triumphed in the 2024 T20 World Cup. Thus, I believe that we are moving on in this tournament with good momentum. For us, it will be an extremely thrilling match, and if we win, it would undoubtedly be a fantastic way to wrap up this format for the year.
It’s a huge opportunity for us, and generally speaking, we get a lot of pressure from our supporters and a lot of duty at every ICC tournament or event. And we advanced to [the Final] in the last two ICC competitions we have participated in.
As they try to win the Champions Trophy for the third time, India has an opportunity to make up for their defeat in the 2023 World Cup final in Dubai.
