At the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Monday, April 27, during the ongoing match between the Rajasthan Royals and Gujarat Titans, captain Shubman Gill hit a couple of brilliant strokes towards the leg side off Yudhvir Singh’s bowling. When Gill and Sai Sudharsan stitched an outstanding partnership for the first wicket earlier in the evening, RR immediately regretted their decision to field first after winning the toss.
Gill whipped authoritatively with the third delivery of the 14th over. The GT captain missed the ball because it was too full and straight. The 27-year-old bowler from Jammu ended the over by pulling over the deep square leg fence with a short-of-a-length slower delivery.

Gill was all set to get to his first ton of the season. However, RR were successful in denying the milestone for Gill on the fourth ball of the 17th over of the first innings. A full-toss by Maheesh Theekshana was hit straight to Riyan Parag on the long-off fence. The ace top-order batter was dismissed for a classic 84 off 50 balls.
GT ended up on 209/4. Ex-RR player, Jos Buttler, ended up unbeaten on 50 off 26 balls. His blistering knock comprised three fours and four sixes. As far as the hosts are concerned, Sandeep Sharma was the most economical of the lot. The medium pacer conceded only 33 runs in his four-over quota. Jofra Archer and Yudhvir conceded 49 and 38 runs in four and three overs, respectively.
If the Gill’s bowling unit manages to defend the 210-run target, it would mean that they would win their seventh game of IPL 2025. As for RR, they have been able to win only two matches out of nine up until now. Ahead of this game, RR occupied the ninth position on the points table, while GT were placed second from top.
