Siddharth Mallya, the son of previous Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) owner and business billionaire Vijay Mallya, burst into tears after the team won its first IPL (Indian Premier League) title after an 18-year wait. RCB’s thrilling six-run victory over Punjab Kings in the IPL 2025 final sparked intense reactions among fans, players, and celebrities.
Since the beginning of the cash-rich league in 2008, RCB has been one of the most popular franchises. Despite the presence of legends such as Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers, and Chris Gayle, they have yet to win a title. The nearly two-decade title drought was eventually broken on Tuesday, when RCB defended 190 against PBKS to become the new champions.
The Siddharth Mallya were personally invested in the club, thus the victory was very meaningful.
Siddharth, 38, appeared upset and in tears in a video he posted on social media shortly after winning.

“When I founded RCB, it was my dream that the IPL trophy would come to Bengaluru.” I had the honour of selecting the great King Kohli as a child, and it is incredible that he has remained with RCB for 18 years. I also had the privilege of selecting Chris Gayle, the Universe Boss, and Mr 360 AB DeVillers, both of whom are indelible parts of RCB history,” he added in another post.
“Finally, the IPL trophy has arrived in Bangalore. Congratulations and thank you again to everyone who helped make my goal come true. The RCB fans are the best, and they deserve the IPL trophy. Ee Sala Cup Bengaluru Baruthe!” Mallya concluded.
