The Sri Lanka Cricket (SL) team has been revealed for the second Test matchup with England. Sri Lanka will be hoping for a better performance in the second Test after losing the previous one. Both teams will square off in the second game on Thursday, August 29 at London’s Lord’s Cricket Ground.
Kusal Mendis and Vishwa Fernando have been replaced by Pathum Nissanka and Lahiru Kumara, which is one of the major alterations to the team. Mendis scored 24 runs in two innings during the first Test match, while Vishwa Fernando claimed two wickets.
Remember that Nissanka last participated in a Test match in 2022, at Galle, when Sri Lanka was playing Australia? Kumara will also be eager to assist his team in returning to winning ways, as he hasn’t played a Test since April 2023.
Right now, Pathum is the nation’s top batter: Dhananjaya de Silva
Following Nissanka’s selection to the team, Dhananjaya de Silva, the captain of Sri Lanka, declared him to be among the nation’s top hitters. He stated that he can play the game in any format because of his versatility.
“Pathum is currently the best hitter in the nation overall. Both his technique and his thinking are strong. It’s excellent if we can get him on the team. I’ve been chatting about it for some time now. According to IndiaToday, Dhananjaya de Silva stated, “I believe he will adapt to any format.”
