The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has named former fast bowler Sohail Tanvir as the head of the junior selection committee. Remarkably, the left-arm seamer played two Tests, sixty-two ODIs, and fifty-seven T20Is for his country, taking 130 wickets in all formats after making his debut in a T20I against India in 2007. He was also a member of Pakistan’s winning team at the 2009 T20 World Cup.
Sohail Tanvir first responsibility as the junior selection committee’s chair will be to choose the Pakistan U19 team for the 2023 ACC U19 Asia Cup, which is set to take place in the United Arab Emirates from December 8–17. Later on, the Pakistan U19 team will compete in the ICC U19 World Cup in Sri Lanka, which runs from January 13 to February 4.
“I am incredibly honored and appreciative of the chance Chairman Zaka Ashraf of the PCB Management Committee has given me to lead the junior selection committee. It is a great honor to be named chairman of this committee, and I am eager to take on this challenging role. Tanvir was cited by the PCB as saying, “I believe in the potential of our young talent and we collaboratively aim to build a pathway for success from the grassroots level to the international level.”

Major PCB makeover following the 2023 ODI World Cup
Notably, the PCB has reorganized its management after their team’s appalling performance in the ODI World Cup 2023, which prevented them from making it to the tournament’s semi-final. Former fast bowler Wahab Riaz took over as chief selector following the resignation of Inzamam ul Haq.
Additionally, Mohammad Hafeez, a former all-rounder for Pakistan, has been named the team director of the men’s cricket team. In addition to the management, the Pakistani cricket team’s leadership has changed in all three forms. Babar Azam resigned as captain following his team’s poor World Cup performance.
Fast bowler Shaheen Afridi has been named the T20I captain, while Shan Masood has been designated the new Test captain following Babar’s departure. However, the PCB has not yet revealed who will captain the Pakistan ODI team.
