Rishabh Pant, the wicketkeeper batsman for India, has made incredible strides in the last six months after his horrifying automobile accident on December 30, 2022. The 26-year-old recently arrived in Kolkata for the Delhi Capitals training camp, but he won’t be working out alongside his teammates as they get ready for the upcoming campaign. Sourav Ganguly, the director of cricket for the Delhi Capitals, recently provided a significant update on Pant’s fitness and said he’s in good shape.
Sourav Ganguly also broke the much-awaited news that Pant’s admirers had been waiting for: the cricketer will be participating in the upcoming IPL season.
“Rishabh Pant looks well. He will start the following season. He won’t practice right now. He will be here until November 11th. Given the impending auctions, we had a conversation regarding the team with Pant, who serves as the captain,” Sourav Ganguly said to India Today in Kolkata.
Notably, Pant was completely at ease as he strolled through the Kolkata training camp. Since he has been making remarkable progress toward achieving complete fitness, he was also not spotted wearing any knee straps. The cricketer from Delhi is anticipated to make a comeback to competitive cricket early in the following year, according India Today.
Pant is expected to return to the country for the England Test series.
In addition, he is anticipated to return to cricket for the United States for a home Test series against England beginning in January 2024. Pant and India all-rounder Axar Patel were recently spotted at the Lord Balaji Temple in Tirupathi, Andhra Pradesh.
One of the few teams that has started their training camp before the upcoming IPL season, which is almost five months away, is Delhi Capitals. A few players from the Delhi Capitals who are available for the camp started their training at the second campus Cricket Association of Bengal pitch at Jadavpur University in Saltlake, Kolkata. Pant will be in Kolkata through November 11 after arriving there on Thursday.
With five victories from 14 games and ten points overall, DC had a terrible season in 2023, finishing in ninth place on the points table. With Pant, their regular captain, back for the upcoming season, they will be anxious for a change of luck.
