Sourav Ganguly, a former Indian player, praised MS Dhoni after the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) had a great Indian Premier League season in 2023 after a terrible season the year before.
In 2022, Dhoni’s team, CSK, had a bad season and came in ninth out of 10 teams. But in 2023, CSK was the first team to get to the IPL final. In Qualifier 1, they beat the defending champion Gujarat Titans by 15 runs.
In the qualifier, CSK was put in first. Ruturaj Gaikwad (60), Devon Conway (40), and some appearances from the middle order helped them get to 172, which was a good total. When the home team was up to bowl, Dhoni chose the right bowlers and set up the field so that Gujarat could only score 157 runs. CSK won the game by 15 runs.

Sourav Ganguly praised Dhoni and the rest of the CSK team for making it to their 10th final in 14 years, and he praised Dhoni for leading CSK’s comeback this season. Sourav Ganguly also talked about the interesting new players like Rinku Singh, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Dhruv Jurel who have come up during this IPL season.
“MS Dhoni and the Chennai Super Kings have been great. They’ve shown that they know how to win big games. Dhoni has done a great job as captain. Sourav Ganguly was described in the Hindustan Times as saying, “He has shown how to win big games.”
“Rinku Singh did well, Dhruv Jurel did well, and Yashasvi Jaiswal did well, too. For Punjab Kings, Jitesh (Sharma) played well. Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Varma have played well. The IPL is a big tournament, and they have done very well in it,” the former head of the BCCI added.
The four-time winners got the second most points in the IPL 2023 to make sure they would be in the playoffs. In 14 games, Chennai got 17 points because they won eight, lost five, and had one tie. In the final on May 28 in Ahmedabad, they will play the winner of Qualifier 2, which is between Gujarat Titans and Mumbai Indians.
