Cricket Director of cricket for South Africa, Enoch Nkwe, is happy with the team's preparations for the ODI World Cup.

Cricket In the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup, Enoch Nkwe, the head of cricket for South Africa (CSA), claimed that the measures taken by CSA will help the men’s team deal with high-pressure situations. From October to November 2023, the World Cup will be held in India.

Under white-ball head coach Rob Walter and captain Temba Bavuma, South Africa seems to have changed a lot. In May 2023, the team got direct qualification for the ODI World Cup. They have already started getting ready for the 50-over tournament, with five ODIs scheduled against Australia at home in September, right before the World Cup.

Nkwe says that a lot has been going on behind the scenes since he qualified. He also said that South Africa has already had national camps to make sure players are always getting better, jobs are clear, and everything is ready for the World Cup later this year.

“Since qualification, there’s been a lot going on behind the scenes. Even after the last game of the season, we didn’t take our foot off the gas. We’ve already had national camps with a small group of players to make sure they keep getting better, their roles are clear, and everything is on track for the World Cup at the end of the year, Enoch Nkwe told Sowetan Live.

The 40-year-old went on to say that South Africa will start their big camp at the end of June, when all of the players will be back in the set-up.

“We’ll have the big camp when all the players are back, which will be at the end of June or the beginning of July. This will lead up to the Cricket Awards. It’s going to be an intense 10-day camp, and we’ll be getting to know the team’s mindset,” he said.

Players know each other well, so it’s up to the teachers to put them in the right places. Enoch Nkwe

The former South African domestic cricketer also said that the players get along well and that it is the job of the teaching staff to put them in the right places to create a healthy environment for them.

“The players in the system know each other very well. It’s the coaches’ job to get them to work together, making sure they can push each other and creating an environment where everyone knows we’re all about excellence.”

“We are refining what the standard will look like when we are under pressure. For the first time in a while, all of the players are pulling in the same direction, which is exciting,” he said.
