The Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have suffered two significant losses in the tournament’s final two games. The club will continue to bat aggressively, according to SRH coach Daniel Vettori, despite the team’s difficulties in the top order.
With a commanding 286 in their match against the Rajasthan Royals (RR), SRH got off to a great start to the season. Their batting hasn’t been as reliable as it was in the first game, though, in the last two. Daniel Vettori, the head coach of SRH, was questioned about if the hitters should alter their strategy for the next games. There hasn’t been any conversation about that, the former IPL 2011 finalist said, explaining what went wrong in the previous game and emphasising how the top three batters have been successful with the same offensive strategy.
“That [tempering down] is not up for discussion. Without a doubt, we wish to portray an aggressive brand. That’s the style of play of our top three. Usually, they set the tone for the others. Travis and Ishan might have crushed those balls for six on an other day, but Abhishek was unfortunate tonight. We are aware that playing this way may result in some failures, but ideally we can attend the celebration and perform more frequently,” Vettori added.
Like any team, we don’t want to be in this situation: Daniel Vettori
Only a few clubs have lost two straight games this season, according to Daniel Vettori’s reflections on the season thus far. In spite of the recent failures, he recognised that the team is still discovering its combinations and is still hopeful of a comeback.
Throughout the 18 IPL seasons, very few teams have won two straight games, especially in the early going when teams are still figuring out their lineups, especially in the year following a major auction. Like any club, we don’t want to be in this situation, but we know that every time we play, we face a very strong squad—well-prepared teams with players of exceptional quality,” Vettori continued.
We can simply show up and win; there’s no reason why we can’t. The difficulty for us after a great first performance is to perform and keep up the style we like. The former Kiwi player came to the conclusion that it matters how we push ourselves to perform consistently.
