At the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Sunday, April 6, the Gujarat Titans defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by seven wickets with 20 deliveries remaining in Match 19 of the 2025 Indian Premier League.
SRH was sent to bat and could only muster 152/8. With the bat, Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma let us down. Uncharacteristically, Nitish Kumar Reddy scored 31 runs off of 34 deliveries. He led the team in scoring as the hosts were held back by some excellent bowling from Sai Kishore (2/24) and Mohammed Siraj (4/17). Pat Cummins’ late charge (22* off nine) was crucial.
Early in the game, GT lost their first two wickets, which put them in serious difficulties. Alongside Washington Sundar (49 off 29), who made an impression at bat, Shubman Gill (61 off 43) led the run-chase rather effectively. With a quickfire 35*, Sherfane Rutherford, who entered as the Impact Player, ended the match in a furious manner.

1. Mohammed Siraj’s sensational spell dents SRH
After the first couple of wickets which Siraj effected with the new ball, he came back amazingly well in the penultimate over of the innings to dismiss two additional players with pinpoint full deliveries which were right on the money.

2. Sai Kishore scalps massive wicket of Heinrich Klaasen
A rollicking slap down the ground by Klaasen off a floated delivery in the slot from left-arm-over prompted Kishore to switch to bowling from around the wicket. He got his reward almost immediately, with Klaasen’s stumps getting pegged back by a delivery which kept coming in with the angle.

3. Sherfane Rutherford’s rapid-fire knock kills the chase with ease
Being subbed in the place of Ishant Sharma, Rutherford did just what was expected from him. An explosive innings from him meant he ended the game on a blistering 35 off 16 deliveries. His colossal maximum off Cummins on the first delivery of the 17th over was an absolute treat for spectators.
