The 41st match of the 2025 Indian Premier League saw the Mumbai Indians (MI) easily defeat Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by seven wickets. After winning the toss and choosing to bowl first, MI’s bowlers carried out their strategies with accuracy, limiting SRH to a respectable 143/8 in 20 overs.
Trent Boult was the most impressive player with the ball, taking four wickets for 26 runs and destroying both the top and bottom order of SRH. He dismissed Abhishek Sharma (8), Abhinav Manohar (43), and Pat Cummins (1) after removing Travis Head for a duck. With two significant wickets, including Nitish Reddy (2) and Ishan Kishan (1), Deepak Chahar also contributed. Heinrich Klaasen, the lone SRH warrior, hit 71 off 44 balls, including two sixes and nine fours, before being bowled out by Jasprit Bumrah in the 19th over.
In retaliation, MI started well even though Ryan Rickelton was benched early for 11. With a scorching 70 off 46 balls, Rohit Sharma spearheaded the chase with strong assistance from Will Jacks (22 off 19) and Suryakumar Yadav (40* off 19). MI showed their supremacy with the bat by chasing the target in just 15.4 overs, finishing at 146/3.
The Mumbai Indians make a big impression in the second half of the campaign with the victory, moving up to third place on the points table. Sunrisers Hyderabad is now lingering in second-last place in the standings as they continue to struggle.
