Sri Lanka has announced their roster for the next three-match T20I series against Bangladesh, which will begin on July 10. The series is likely to be an important component of both sides’ preparations for the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka.
Sri Lanka’s recently announced roster contains numerous changes from their previous T20I appearance in January 2025, when they lost a three-match series 2-1 to New Zealand.
Dasun Shanaka, an all-rounder who has not played in nearly a year, is one of the crucial additions. Shanaka last played a T20I against India in July 2024, and he will try to re-establish himself in the format.
Chamika Karunaratne is also making a comeback, having last played a T20I for Sri Lanka in April 2023. His experience will enhance the pace-bowling department.
Dunith Wellalage has also been summoned to help the spin attack. The 22-year-old spinner made his T20I debut last year and has appeared in only four matches thus far. The upcoming series provides him with an opportunity to secure his position.
Eshan Malinga is a major addition to the squad, having received his first T20I call-up. Although he earned his ODI debut earlier this year, he is yet to play in the shorter format. Malinga’s selection follows outstanding performances in the IPL and SA20 tournaments.
