Sri Lanka Women have named left-arm spinner Inoka Ranaweera in their squad for the T20 World Cup 2024, replacing pacer Kawya Kavindi. The squad was looking for a spinner to help their chances in spin-friendly surfaces in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and Inoka Ranaweera has struck gold. She did not make the Ireland tour and was left out of the Asia Cup squad.
With 82 T20I matches under his belt and 91 wickets at an economy rate of 5.86, the 38-year-old offers an abundance of experience to the team. The team now has just three choices for pace: Udeshika Prabodhani, Achini Kulasuriya, and Ama Kanchana. Kavindi is not included in this group.
Conversely, the spinning possibilities include of Inoka Ranaweera, Inoshi Priyadharshani, Sugandika Kumari, and Kavisha Dilhari
