India took first blood on Day 2 of the second Test against the West Indies at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, albeit under unusual circumstances. John Campbell, who appeared at ease against the Indian pacers, got out to Ravindra Jadeja in an awful manner.
This incident occurred in the eighth over of the West Indies’ innings, after India declared at 518/5. Jadeja, delivering his opening over, sent a delivery right outside Campbell’s off stump. The southpaw landed the slog sweep, but to his dismay, the ball was caught by Sai Sudharsan at forward short leg, who was attempting to take evasive measures to avoid being hit.
The ball ricocheted off Sudharsan’s right hand knuckles and landed in his left hand.
Campbell was stunned, as were the fans in attendance. Sudharsan played a key role in India’s first Test victory, although he had to leave the pitch immediately for medical attention.

Campbell had to take the long walk back to the dressing room after scoring a 25-ball 10. He became Jadeja’s 335th Test victim. The Saurashtra all-rounder is the fourth-highest wicket-taker for India in the longest format of the game.
Earlier in the day, Shubman Gill slammed his 10th century on a stunning batting track in Delhi. He remained unbeaten on 129 off 196 balls. This was after Yashasvi Jaiswal was run-out for 175 in the second over of the day. Nitish Kumar Reddy and Dhruv Jurel also contributed 43 and 44 runs, respectively, before being dismissed on Day 2.
