Washington Sundar, who is currently dominating the ball in the Test match between India and New Zealand, also made a significant contribution with an outstanding fielding move during the morning session of Day 3 at the MCA Stadium in Pune.
After scoring just one run in the 11 deliveries he faced, Ajaz Patel attempted to break free by hitting one over the stands in an attempt to increase the stakes and maintain a constant scoring pace. Based on the sound the ball made off the bat, Patel appeared to have a good piece of Ravindra Jadeja’s fullish delivery, which he slog-swept. But Sundar ran to his right and, like a cheetah, sprawled across the deep midwicket fence to scoop the ball.

New Zealand’s chances of taking a solid lead are hampered by Jadeja’s strikes.
Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin were, predictably, the opening bowling combination for India on Day 3. Jadeja struck in his fourth over after using his variations to trouble the steady Tom Blundell, even if Ashwin did not appear to have the same chance of removing the hitters. Playing for the turn, Blundell’s wood was disturbed, and he was beaten past his inside edge.

The man of the previous innings, Mitchell Santner, was the second person Jadeja took out. Santner went long-on for the big one. Sadly, he was only able to abruptly stop the visitor’s journey by toe-ending it into Jasprit Bumrah’s hands.
