This win put the Men in Blue ahead of two-time champions Australia and made them the first side to win the Champions Trophy three times. With the victory, Rohit became the second Indian skipper to win multiple ICC men’s white-ball trophies, with MS Dhoni being the second.
As their senior, I occasionally reprimand them: Sunil Gavaskar
Gavaskar talked candidly after the final about how, as their older, he occasionally criticises India’s performance because he wants the squad to play a strong brand of cricket.
As their senior, I occasionally reprimand them. He stated on Star Sports, “I am confident they can succeed and they are deserving of this trophy.”
India ran a truly outstanding campaign. As they demonstrated their skills and abilities, they went undefeated during the competition. The opposition was able to win the title despite New Zealand’s perseverance. First to bat, the Kiwis scored 251/7, supported by batsman Michael Bracewell’s 53 and Daryl Mitchell’s 63. But Kuldeep Yadav and Varun Chakravarthy, India’s spinners, changed the game by grabbing vital wickets and limiting the pace of scoring.
Shubman Gill (31) and Rohit Sharma (76) put up a strong opening partnership of 105 runs to start India’s chase. But New Zealand kept making a comeback, taking wickets when it mattered most. But India crossed the finish line with an over remaining thanks to their depth in the batting order.
