On May 14, after their game against the Kolkata Knight Riders, the Chennai Super Kings players did a run around the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai to thank their fans for coming out in such large numbers for their last home game. During the process, cricket great Sunil Gavaskar ran towards MS Dhoni, breaking the human wall, to get his signature on his shirt. In the end, the 41-year-old signed his shirt, and they both gave him a hug.
Sunil Gavaskar, a famous former Indian player, came back for the show after the game and talked about how much he loves Dhoni.
He went on to say that so many young people look up to the two-time world winner and that MS Dhoni has been doing a great job with the way he acts.
“Who doesn’t love MS Dhoni? He has done a lot of great things for Indian cricket over the years. The most important thing to me is how he has been a role model. In India, there are a lot of young people who look up to him. Sunil Gavaskar told Star Sports that the way Kohli has carried himself is “absolutely great.”
“As soon as I heard they were going to do this thing (circle the Chepauk), I borrowed a pen. So, I held on to it. “Thank you very much,” said the 73-year-old.
CSK has to beat DC in order to get into the playoffs.
Even though the four-time champions are in a good situation to move on to the next round, things could get complicated if any of Mumbai Indians, Lucknow Super Giants, Royal Challengers Bangalore, or Punjab Kings win their remaining games. The team led by MS Dhoni will next play the Delhi Capitals in the IPL 2023. If they win that game, they could finish in the top two, but that will rest on how the Mumbai Indians and Lucknow Super Giants do in their last games.
They will be calm for now, but they will want to get better because neither their bowlers nor their hitters did well against Kolkata Knight Riders in the last game.
