When given the opportunity in 2023, the talented Indian spinner Kuldeep Yadav has made a remarkable comeback into the Indian team and has performed at the very top of his game. With his exploits, he has established himself as a leading candidate to join the Indian team for the 2017 ODI World Cup.
The 28-year-old’s journey, nevertheless, has not always been smooth. When Yadav lost favor with both India and his Indian Premier League (IPL) team KKR in 2019, Yadav’s career began to decline. After settling in with Delhi Capitals in the IPL 2022, the spinner, however, found his way back to form.
In addition to the coaching he received at Delhi Capitals, Sunil Joshi, a former India selector, was instrumental in helping him regain his mojo and rediscover his place in the team.
Sunil Joshi, who spoke forward to offer his thoughts on the matter, claimed that no one was eager to support the spinner during that challenging time in his professional life.
“When Kuldeep Yadav was dismissed, I was a member of the selection committee. Who was the rescuer? None of the coaching personnel were able to shorten his delivery stride, improve the front arm and arm speed, or get him to rip more revolutions on the ball, according to Sunil Joshi, who spoke to The Indian Express.
He also discussed the reactions of everyone after the left-arm spinner reached his peak and resumed his regular performances. Joshi disclosed that the 28-year-old’s 28-year-old coach, Ravi Shastri, had asked him what he had done differently with the player.
“All of a sudden, Kuldeep Yadav is in the news. How have you handled Kuldeep, questioned Ravi Shastri? I replied, “Ravi bhai, I haven’t done anything noteworthy. A bowling coach should be performing these basic tasks. When you look at Kuldeep 2.0, he is moving toward the objective while jogging and has his front arm pointing in the right direction. He now moves in the air more quickly thanks to a shorter stride and a free follow-through. Look at the manner he is currently bowling,” Joshi continued.
