There is no space for complacency once we go ahead in the Super Fours rankings: The eponymous Rohit Sharma

"We haven't been at our best, but a few guys are coming out after months out of the game," Rohit Sharma said. "We have a lot of work to do."

Rohit Sharma

At this point in the Asia Cup 2023, it is quite evident that the Indian squad is performing at a level that is nowhere near its best. Rohit Sharma was the team’s captain, and both their performances against Pakistan in the first game and their performance against Nepal in the second game of the competition were below average.

However, due to the fact that the game against Pakistan was postponed and India prevailed against Nepal, the team was able to successfully qualify for the Super Four stage of the Asia Cup 2023. In spite of the fact that they have qualified for the competition, however, the captain Rohit Sharma, has stated publicly that there is still a significant amount of room for improvement for the team.

“We haven’t been performing at our best, but a few people are coming out after being out of the game for months. In the first game, while we were under a lot of pressure, Hardik and Ishan got us into a strong position. There is no room for complacency if we move ahead in the Super Fours. “Today our bowling was okay, but the fielding was below par,” Rohit Sharma remarked in the post-match presentation after India’s victory against Nepal.

In the back of our minds, we were aware of the following aspects of our 15: It’s Rohit Sharma.

at addition to this, the question was posed to Rohit Sharma regarding the selection of India’s World Cup squad based on their performances at the Asia Cup. When asked about it, the captain stated that every player was aware of the composition of the World Cup squad before coming to Sri Lanka. The seasoned opener for India revealed that only one or two positions for the team’s roster for the World Cup are still up in the air.

“When we came here, in the back of our minds, we knew what our (World Cup) 15 would look like, with the exception of maybe one or two spots,” Rohit added.

The World Cup campaign of Team India will get underway on October 8th. The match will take place at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Australia will be their opponent. Soon after that, on October 14, they have a match scheduled against Pakistan in Ahmedabad. India will want to win its first two games of the World Cup, in which it will compete against two notable teams, in order to get off to a strong start.
