Surrey has recruited Ravisrinivasan Sai Kishore for a few First-Class games at the end of July. This will be the first time the India all-rounder has competed in the County Championship, having proven his worth in the Indian domestic setup over the last several years. The two matches will be against Yorkshire and Durham in Division One of the 2025 County Championship.
The left-arm spinner, who has previously played for Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League, was excited to join Surrey’s system and represent the defending champions. Notably, the Tamil Nadu native recently guided IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans to their first title in the Tamil Nadu Premier League 2025.
“I am really thrilled to be joining Surrey for the next two County Championship matches. Surrey is one of the world’s most prominent clubs, and I’ve heard fantastic things about the setup from a variety of people in the game,” Kishore told.
Alec Stewart, Surrey’s high-performance advisor and a former English cricketer, was thrilled to welcome Kishore’s bowling knowledge and leadership skills into the system.
“I’m thrilled to add the highly rated Sai Kishore to our squad for the upcoming two Kookaburra games. Every report I’ve received from individuals I respect in the Indian game has praised him. “His four-day record for Tamil Nadu is excellent, and he brings leadership experience to the team,” he said.
A glance through Sai Kishore’s red-ball numbers
Kishore’s red-ball numbers are quite impressive. He has scalped 192 wickets in 46 First-Class games at an average and economy rate of 23.51 and 2.76, respectively. This will be the first appearance for him in County Cricket. The seasoned all-rounder has already had a taste of English conditions before. This was as a reserve player with the visiting Indian side in 2022.
He has been immersed in T20 cricket since March. Kishore was the second-highest wicket-taker amongst spinners in the 2025 edition of the Indian Premier League, followed by a triumphant run at the TNPL as captain.
The stint with Surrey might just help Kishore to re-enter the talks of the spinners to be instated in the red-ball team in the future. Good performances in the two games might just help Kishore’s case. He has played only three games for India so far. All three of them have been T20Is, which came during the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games.
