A star batter Suryakumar Yadav, a batsman for the Mumbai Indians (MI) and Gujarat Titans (GT) in the IPL 2025 match at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on March 29, avoided a serious injury scare after being struck in the helmet by a Prasidh Krishna ball. Even after the hit, the seasoned batter kept batting.
The Mumbai-based team had a rough start as they chased a total of 197 after Mohammed Siraj removed Rohit Sharma (8 off 4) and Ryan Rickelton (6 off 9) with two strikes in the powerplay.
Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Varma shared a vital 62-run partnership that steadied the innings, but in the 12th over, Prasidh removed Varma for 39 off 36 balls.
At the same time, the Mumbai batter misunderstood the slower bouncer from the pacer while attempting one of his trademark ramp shots in the first bowl of the 14th over. His glove’s top edge was struck by the ball, which then struck his helmet. Immediately, Suryakmar collapsed to the ground, raising serious concerns about injuries. Mohammed Siraj, MI captain Hardik Pandya, and other players hurried to see how he was doing. After a short while, the batter was back on his feet thanks to the prompt attention of the team’s physicians and physiotherapists.

The 33-year-old who came close to his well-made fifty but fell just two runs short, as he departed for 48 runs off 28 balls. Facing Prasidh, he was forced to go big due to the scoreboard pressure. But a slower delivery outside off stump, saw his shot not get the elevation, and he ended up giving a straightforward catch to Shubman Gill at long-off.
