In Vapi, Gujarat, a pandal with a Ganesh Puja motif was inspired by Suryakumar’s famous catch to dismiss David Miller in the T20 World Cup final. The Men in Blue won their first ICC title in more than a decade, and the catch ultimately assisted India in winning the major competition for the first time in 17 years.
Notably, South Africa needed to win by 16 runs in the match’s last over. When Miller pushed the ball across the stumps and made a good connection, Hardik Pandya, regrettably, bowled a wide full-toss. Suryakumar made a running catch close to long off, which helped India stage a comeback, even though it appeared to be a six from all angles. The team headed by Rohit Sharma ultimately prevailed in the match by a score of seven runs.
