Suryansh Shedge, the standout all-rounder for Mumbai, hit a huge six that cleared the field to end the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy quarterfinals against Vidarbha. With both teams vying for a spot in the semi-finals, the match was a high-scoring thriller. On December 11, the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) quarterfinals were held in Bengaluru. Mumbai and Delhi won to go to the next round.
In the Mumbai-Vidarbha match, the latter amassed 221/6 thanks to fast half-centuries from Apoorv Wankhede (51 off 33), Atharva Taide (66 off 41), and Shubham Dubey’s cameo of 43 off 19. However, Ajinkya Rahane’s 45-ball 84, which featured 10 fours and three sixes, was sufficient to help the formidable Mumbai batting lineup chase down the target.
Shivam Dube (unbeaten 37 off 22) and Suryansh Shedge (unbeaten 36 off 12) added the final touches to help Mumbai win by six wickets with four balls remaining, while Prithvi Shaw also found some rhythm, smashing 49 off only 26 balls with five fours and four sixes. In the meantime, Mumbai all-rounder Shedge’s huge long-on strike that sent the ball out of the stadium stands out as one of the game’s most memorable moments.
