In the end, India prevailed by seven runs, and Kohli was named Player of the Match. Former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag praised the opener and dubbed him the greatest T20 World Cup batter ever after the match. The cricketer from Delhi was the Player of the Tournament in both 2014 and 2016, and he was instrumental in India’s victory over Pakistan in the tournament’s 2022 edition.
Throughout the whole T20 World Cup, Virat Kohli had form issues. Despite his good intentions and a few early starts, the 35-year-old was unable to capitalise on them. On the final night, though, the famous Indian batsman lived up to the expectations and scored 76 runs off of 59 deliveries against South Africa. Kohli was instrumental in helping the Men in Blue score 176 runs while all the other top order bats failed to register an impact.
After news of Kohli’s T20I retirement broke, Sehwag said that his attitude to the game is admirable and wished him luck in the remaining two formats.
“How about Virat, the batsman for the Twenty20 World Cup? The greatest T20 World Cup batsman of all time, he led the team to victory in games from tough circumstances in 2014 and 2016, and he once again displayed his class yesterday in the finals. Sehwag tweeted. Melbourne will go down in T20 history in 2022.
“His approach, which is evident in everything he says and which I consider to be the grace of a Guru, has been more astounding than his runs. He attributes a great deal of success to something greater than himself. His career in T20 cricket comes to an outstanding close, and he continues to establish high standards in the other two formats, he prayed, adding.
What to say about Virat the T20 World Cup batsman. By far the best T20 World Cup batsman ever, carried the team in 2014 and 2016 single-handedly winning games from difficult situations, in 2022 Melbourne will be in folklore of our T20 history and yesterday in the finals showing… pic.twitter.com/z4ieFsNWzF
