R. Sai Kishore, Tamil Nadu’s experienced left-arm spinner and TNCA President’s XI captain, has been ruled out of the Buchi Babu Tournament 2025 due to an injury, resulting in last-minute team leadership changes.
Sai Kishore, who had a successful IPL 2025 season with the Gujarat Titans, was expected to head the TNCA President’s XI in the forthcoming event.
However, his injury has led the team’s management to name Pradosh Ranjan Paul as the new captain. Paul, who was previously designated skipper of the TNCA XI, will now captain the President’s XI, with M. Shahrukh Khan leading the TNCA XI.
The leadership changes have resulted in a restructure in both squads. P. Vidyuth transitions from TNCA XI to TNCA President’s XI, while P. Vignesh also joins the President’s XI. M. Siddharth, on the other hand, is switching from TNCA President’s XI to TNCA XI for personal reasons. These changes occurred shortly after Vignesh Puthur’s impressive IPL 2025 performance with the Mumbai Indians.
Tamil Nadu’s updated squad:
TNCA President’s XI: Pradosh Ranjan Paul (C), C. Andre Siddarth C (Vice-capt.), B. Indrajith, Vijay Shankar, R. Vimal Khumar, S. Radhakrishnan, S. Lokeshwar, G. Ajitesh, J. Hemchudeshan, R.S. Ambrish, C.V. Achyuth, H. Trilok Nag, P. Saravana Kumar, P. Vidyuth, K. Abhinav.

Meanwhile, originally started as a memorial event, the Buchi Babu Tournament gained significant attention in the late 1960s under the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA). Once regarded as India’s premier first-class competition before the Ranji Trophy. Notably, the tournament continues to be a crucial fixture in the domestic calendar. The 2025 edition will be held from August 18 to September 9 in Chennai, just ahead of the Duleep Trophy, which will kick off the new domestic season.
