Tamim Iqbal and several other cricket players from Bangladesh marched to the National Cricket Academy in Mirpur to protest Towhid Hridoy’s suspension. In a recent Dhaka Premier League game between Mohammedan Sporting Club and Abahani Limited at the Shere Bangla Stadium, Hridoy was given a two-match suspension for expressing disapproval of a few umpiring calls.
Due to the confusing circumstances surrounding his early return to the field after serving only one game of his two-match ban, Hridoy was suspended, which caused a great deal of consternation. The domestic structure’s administrative irregularities have sparked a wide range of enquiries.
Nazmul Abedeen Fahim, the recently appointed head of the CCDM technical committee and the chairperson of cricket operations for the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), revealed today that the Mohammedan Sporting Club captain will not play in their match against Gaza Group on Saturday, April 26.
Faruque Ahmed, the BCB president, came to the board’s location to speak with Tamim, Mahmudullah, Shamim Hossain, and Shariful Islam about the board’s rules and the whole sequence of events that resulted in the predicament.
Towhid Hridoy’s on-field outburst forces intervention from teammates
There were two separate instances during Abahani Limited’s innings when Hridoy lost his cool at the umpires. Hridoy argued with the on-field umpires on both occasions where LBW shouts were not given in his side’s favour. He was seen visibly agitated and displeased with the umpires. When Hridoy had a face-off with umpire Sharfuddoula Saikat, the duo of Mushfiqur Rahim and Mehidy Hasan Miraz intervened to diffuse the situation.
