Zimbabwe will play two Test matches in addition to their ODI series against Afghanistan. Beginning on December 26, the Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo will host the opening Test of the series. In addition, the second Test will begin at the same location on January 2.
Zimbabwe Cricket took front stage and revealed their roster prior to the Test series. To everyone’s amazement, Zimbabwe selected seven uncapped players for their historic Test matches against Afghanistan on Boxing Day and the New Year.
Seven members of the squad who participated in the July one-off Test match against Ireland were excluded by the selection committee. It is also important to note that the two-match Test series was their first home New Year’s Test in history and the first Boxing Day Test in Zimbabwe since 1996.
After the first ODI ended without a result, Afghanistan managed to win the second one.
Regarding the current Afghanistan-Zimbabwe series, the second ODI managed to yield a result following the draw of the first. Afghanistan dominated the first innings with a massive 286 runs and held Zimbabwe to 54 runs.
Afghanistan will look to clinch the series with another strong performance in the upcoming match after winning the second ODI by an overwhelming 232 runs and taking the series lead. Both teams will also want to maintain their best form as the Tests draw near.
