The Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad is hosting a high-octane run-fest between Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Punjab Kings (PBKS). PBKS scored an incredible 245 runs in their 20 overs when batting first. The rest of the batting order contributed brilliantly to bring the total well over the 240 mark, but captain Shreyas Iyer took the lead with a scorching 82 off only 36 deliveries.
The PBKS bowling attack was torn apart by the aggressive response of SRH openers Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma. The two immediately put pressure on the visitors.
After being brought on in the fifth over during the powerplay, Glenn Maxwell was dismissed after giving up 16 runs in his opening over and 10 and 14 runs in his following two overs, respectively. When fellow Australians Travis Head and Glenn Maxwell got into a heated argument in the middle, tensions increased. Marcus Stoinis intervened to defuse the situation.

Despite the brief on-field drama, SRH’s charge continued. Travis Head smashed 66 off 37 balls before falling to Yuzvendra Chahal, with Glenn Maxwell completing the catch. Meanwhile, Abhishek Sharma put on a show for the home crowd, racing to a century, remaining unbeaten on 107 off just 43 balls, studded with 11 fours and 7 sixes.
At the end of 14 overs, SRH stood strong at 186 for 1, needing 60 runs off the final 6 overs with Abhishek Sharma and Heinrich Klaasen at the crease. The hosts are well on track for their second win of the 2025 IPL season, much to the delight of the Hyderabad.
