In the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 Asia Qualifier, Thailand and Nepal advanced to the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 Qualifier by placing first and second, respectively, in the Super Three competition.
Nine teams competed in the Bangkok tournament for the top two slots, which would advance them to the final round of qualifying for the 2026 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, which will be held in England and Wales.
Nepal, Thailand, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) were in the tournament’s final three.
Thailand defeated the UAE by 54 runs on Sunday, while Nepal defeated the UAE by five wickets today to finish in the top two and secure their spot in the qualifier.
Thailand chose to bat and reached 144 for five thanks to the contributions of Nattaya Boochatham and Natthakan Chatham, who scored 49 and 46, respectively, in their encounter against the UAE.
Thailand’s frugal bowling, spearheaded by left-arm spinner Thipatcha Putthawong, who took two for 27, held the UAE to 90 for five in response.
The UAE again had trouble at the batting end against Nepal, as left-arm seam spinner Manisha Upadhayay took four wickets for 20 to limit the UAE to 114 for seven.
Following early difficulties that saw them fall to 38 for three in the ninth over, Nepal’s captain, Indu Barma, led her team to victory. Her team reached their goal with three deliveries remaining thanks to her 28-ball 30.
Along with eight other teams, Nepal and Thailand will compete for one of four spots in the main tournament.
