A poor pitch seems to bring out the best in the Indian team: Aakash Chopra

"You can’t justify a pitch where a ball takes off from a good length and goes past the keeper’s head," Chopra stated.

A poor pitch seems to bring out the best in the Indian team: Aakash Chopra
Presenting “#AAKASHVANI,” a daily sports program on JioCinema, Aakash Chopra discussed the Cape Town pitch, the reasons behind Jasprit Bumrah’s success, and the reason Prasidh Krishna lost out on a chance to make an impression. Take a peek:

At the Cape Town pitch

There are several consequences after a one-and-a half-day test match. The pitch has been the subject of some discussion. A few inquiries have been made. Concerning the caliber of the pitches available, India has never voiced any complaints. The pitching for the Wanderers was awful the last time. It’s possible that some players were injured during that. This Cape Town pitch was also a disaster. India didn’t grumble and remained concentrated on the game. I also recall that Perth, Australia, pitch. It was also quite awful. A pitch where the ball takes off at a good length and passes the keeper’s head cannot be justified.

India remained silent even in that situation. All they did was compete with determination. In reality, the Indian squad performs better when the pitch is poor for whatever reason. I don’t think the dust bowls in India or pitches like this are helpful for the game. It’s simply inappropriate for a cricket match.

What exactly makes Jasprit Bumrah unique?

Jasprit Bumrah bowls so well for a variety of reasons. His singular action comes first. He lacks Lasith Malinga’s clinging behavior. He doesn’t perform the same motion as Paul Adams’ “frog-in-the-blender.” He does not bowl with the incorrect foot, in contrast to Sohail Tanveer.

What has changed, then? At one point, he puts both of his hands in front of his chest. The thinking of a batsman is usually not trained for an action such as this. They are used to dealing with bowlers whose hands move in a clockwise manner, rising and falling simultaneously. Because they must make decisions in a split second, batters find it tough to deal with it.

He is also properly bracing his foot, which is another aspect of his action. Because of this, he can bowl at his highest potential height. Before releasing, other bowlers gently bend their legs. That reduces the ball’s pace slightly. However, Jasprit Bumrah knee brace is so effective that it allows him to accelerate. He benefits from his point of release being so late. Aside from that, he is agile and possesses quickness. He is a national asset because of this.

When batters in Cape Town demonstrate a strong will to succeed

Be it Markram, Rohit, Gill, or Kohli. Here, the more aggressive-looking player had a better chance of scoring. Although there was no certainty, luck was also a factor. A batsman’s feet start flowing smoothly and they seize every scoring opportunity as soon as they exhibit an aggressive desire. On fields like these, it’s very hard to succeed if one goes into survival mode.

Regarding whether Prasidh Krishna lost out on a chance

I believe he is losing out on this chance. That’s because on a wicket like this, pace bowlers like him don’t often get to bowl. India’s next home Test matchup is against England. They last played a Test series in the West Indies. During this trip, he got the chance to cement his reputation as a fast bowler. But it appears that he missed the bus. He is still a work in progress and appeared undercooked.
