The next season of the Indian Premier League is anticipated to commence on March 23, 2024. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has not yet released the schedule for the tournament, even though it is just over a month away. The board is now organizing and is expected to make a decision after the Election Commissioner confirms the election dates for the upcoming general election scheduled for March and April.
Reports suggest that the IPL 2024 schedule could be published gradually.
The Governing Council, led by Arun Singh Dhumal, is in the process of finalizing the specifics, and the initial stage of the league is anticipated to be revealed shortly. The officials are continuously communicating with the Home Ministry and the Election Commission of India to refine the facts.
Our internal discussions have almost finalized the schedule, but a final announcement will be made once we receive clarity and necessary approvals from the Home Ministry and Election Commission of India regarding the polling schedule, according to a knowledgeable source speaking to News18.
The schedule will be revealed gradually. Similar to the events of 2019,. “We will release the schedule for the first few games for each team soon. Once we have more clarity on the polling schedule and other important dates, we will announce the rest,” the insider stated.
The election took place in seven phases in 2019, and BCCI released the IPL schedule for the first two weeks exclusively. Officials are prepared with provisional dates, anticipating a repetition of the same situation. A final decision will be made shortly after the election commissioner releases the dates.
The national selectors are scheduled to visit all IPL matches to closely monitor players. Jay Shah, the secretary of BCCI, acknowledged the news and stated that a new selector will be chosen shortly.
