On May 14 at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Rajasthan Royals suffered a humiliating loss at the hands of Royal Challengers Bangalore. In pursuit of a target of 172 runs, the team captained by Sanju Samson was bowled out for just 59 runs and ultimately lost by an enormous margin of 112 runs. In order to qualify for the IPL 2023 quarterfinals, the team must not only win their next match against the Punjab Kings but also improve their net run rate and monitor the results of their other matches closely.
Former RCB captain Virat Kohli took a jab at RR while praising his team’s performance with the ball. The 34-year-old was overheard saying that if he had bowled, the host team would have been out for 40.
In a video posted by RCB, Virat Kohli is heard stating, “If I had bowled, they would have been all out for 40.” Notably, the Delhi-born cricketer bowls infrequently and frequently mocks his bowling action.
The Royal Challengers Bangalore are headed for another IPL quarterfinal appearance.
The Faf du Plessis-led squad enhanced their position in the IPL points table after a sensational victory over Rajasthan Royals and are now cruising towards another IPL postseason appearance. Bangalore will qualify for the playoffs if they win their remaining two matches against Sunrisers Hyderabad (May 18) and Gujarat Titans (May 21). They are currently fifth in the table.
The Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Faf du Plessis is leading by example as the South African international has scored 631 runs in 12 matches thus far and is presently leading the race for the IPL Orange Cap. Virat Kohli and Glenn Maxwell have also been outstanding, while Mohammed Siraj and Wayne Parnell wrought havoc with the ball in the previous match, giving them a great deal of confidence heading into the final stages of the tournament.
