Brendon McCullum and Ben Stokes have led England’s distinctive Bazball method of Test cricket, which has produced stunning victories over cricketing giants like South Africa, New Zealand, Pakistan, and Australia, since June 2022. Their fascinating style has captured the attention of audiences everywhere, making them a dynamic and captivating team.
However, other teams haven’t shown the same enthusiasm for using this strategy. Veteran Indian cricketer R Ashwin talked about how it would be unwise for India to adopt this unconventional approach and made the case that since Test cricket in India is played differently, doing so could present a number of difficulties.
While praising India’s impressive Test cricket performance, Ashwin issued a warning about an upcoming transition period in which difficulties can materialise. He questioned whether India could be as patient as England, who were able to overcome early setbacks under Ben Stokes and McCullum.
High-risk, high-reward strategies used by England produce exciting matches like the most recent Ashes series. However, India’s strategy has already paid off at home and overseas, with major triumphs in Australia and England. Players like Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer show the ability to change their game depending on the circumstances and don’t like to be restricted to a specific style.
“That has always been the way of our culture. So, even if it works for someone else, we shouldn’t emulate their playing style, Ashwin said bluntly in his YouTube video. He highlighted that for a new style to be successful, management, selectors, and the crowd must all fully support it.
Because their administration fully supports this style of play, it “works” for them. Their selectors encourage the players to play in this manner, Ashwin continued.
Supporters should back Rohit Sharma’s squad:
Ashwin urged supporters to back Rohit Sharma’s side totally as they prepare for the demanding World Cup in 2023.
“The least I can do is ask that we send the team to the 2023 World Cup with all of our positivity. I’ll simply ask for that,” Ashwin said in his conclusion.
