The Mumbai Indians (MI), five-time champions, will face the Gujarat Titans (GT) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 Eliminator on Friday, May 30 in Mullanpur. However, MI appears to be dealing with injury issues ahead of the key clash.
A recent video from an airport has gone viral, showing MI players Deepak Chahar and Tilak Varma wearing knee braces.
Both players appeared to be in pain when walking, with heavy taping on their thighs, raising concerns about their fitness ahead of the crucial encounter.
Chahar suffered a hamstring injury in MI’s previous match against Punjab Kings (PBKS). He bowled a maiden over, then gave up 28 runs in his next two overs. Meanwhile, Tilak hurt his knee while fielding in the same game.

In terms of performance this season, Tilak has scored 274 runs in 11 innings, including two half centuries. Chahar has 11 wickets in 14 matches, with an economy rate of 9.17.
The Hardik Pandya-led club had a difficult start to the season, but they rallied with a string of victories to earn a playoff position. They finished fourth in the league stage, winning eight and losing six. Suryakumar Yadav has been MI’s best scorer, with 640 runs in 14 matches, while Trent Boult leads the team’s bowling stats with 19 wickets.
GT, on the other side, remained consistent throughout the IPL 2025 but suffered back-to-back losses in the league stage. They will also hope to rebound from their defeats and demonstrate their full talent in the do-or-die match. GT will lose Jos Buttler, and MI will play without Will Jacks.
