Ever since he returned from his back injury for India, Jasprit Bumrah has been singing. He took 20 wickets at the World Cup in India after making his comeback to the game. In addition, he was named Player of the Tournament in the 2024 T20 World Cup, which India won to break their illustrious ICC title drought. More recently, after taking a record 32 wickets in nine innings, Bumrah won Player of the Series in the coveted Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024–25.
Tim Southee, a former New Zealand pacer, lavished the right-arm speedy with praise during a recent conversation.
“Having an injury setback like he had has been fantastic for him. and the ability to recover and maybe improve as a bowler above his pre-injury level. He has therefore always had a unique gift. “He clearly has a distinct action, pace, and skill,” Southee told the Hindustan Times.
Bumrah’s technical skill was further explained by Southee. It’s really difficult to move the ball both ways and at a fast rate. Thus, I believe he possesses the necessary skill set. He has a special move. And he has simply been outstanding. I believe that people are not fully aware of how difficult it is to juggle these three types. It’s an amazing accomplishment for him to be able to be the best bowler in all three formats right now,” he continued.
Anticipate his potential in the upcoming years: Tim Southee
He like Bumrah’s post-injury performances, Southee said, and he hoped for even greater success in the future.
“So, yeah, like I said, to have a major injury setback and bounce back the way he has, I admire watching him, and I look forward to seeing how good he can be over the next few years as well.” Southee concluded.
At the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru, Bumrah is currently scheduled to receive therapy for his injured back. In order to qualify for the 2019 Champions Trophy squad, India would like its fast-bowling spearhead to heal as quickly as possible.
