In the current third Test match against England, BlackCaps bowler Tim Southee is playing his final match of his career. Because of the strong start of New Zealand’s top order, England chose to bowl first after winning the toss. However, as the middle order broke down, Southee, the Kiwi captain, let loose his inner six-hitter and knocked England captain Ben Stokes and Gus Atkinson to the ground.
After Matt Henry was lost, the hosts were at 272/8 when he entered the batting order at number 8. With a strike rate of 230, the Kiwi cricketer hit 23 runs off of just 10 balls, including one boundary and three maximums. He especially hammered Atkinson for a four and a six and Stokes for two maximums. With his three sixes, the veteran also tied the record for Test cricket sixes held by former West Indies opener Chris Gayle.
With his 98th six off Atkinson, he climbed up to share fourth place on the all-time chart. Stokes is at the top of the chart with 110 Tests played and 133 sixes. With 107 sixes in 101 games, Brendon McCullum, the current England head coach and former captain of New Zealand, comes in second. Former Australia opener Adam Gilchrist, who has 100 sixes in 96 Test matches, is in third place.

A moment in time that you wish will never occur: Tim Southee
In his 107th and last Test match for New Zealand, Southee will cap off an incredible career. This historic event moved the right-arm pacer, who promised to savour it to the end.
“There’s a moment you pray never arrives. It seems like the right moment. There is exceptional depth. It’s been an amazing journey. I hope this final week is fantastic. The show hasn’t gone as planned. “Hopefully, we can perform well this week,” Southee stated during the toss.
