After starting his international career at the age of 19, the New Zealander played his first games for his nation in ODIs and Tests after making his debut in T20I cricket. Against England in his T20I debut, Southee took out Paul Collingwood for his maiden international wicket. Speaking about the event, Southee stated, “The Sharjah Warriorz have an amazing team with lots of hard-hitting hitters and intelligent and skilled bowlers.” It will be an incredibly thrilling experience to lead and be surrounded by such a gifted group of cricket players. So far, I’ve had extremely productive talks with the team management, and we are optimistic about a successful season. Joining and leading the team excites me greatly.
“We are thrilled to have Tim Southee join the Sharjah Warriorz team as captain,” said Capri Sports. He is unmatched in his work ethic and commitment to cricket, and his perseverance in overcoming obstacles is a perfect fit with the Warrior spirit. In addition to strengthening our team, Southee gives it depth and experience for the next ILT20.
