In the IPL 2025, the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) are now in a difficult situation. To guarantee a spot in the playoffs this season, the Rishabh Pant-led team, who are now seventh in the standings, will need to win all three of their games by significant margins.
This season, the Lucknow team has struggled due to a few key players’ erratic performances. Even if the team has displayed flashes of some outstanding play, it hasn’t been enough to control the game’s pivotal moments. Former IPL champion coach Tom Moody shared his thoughts on the team’s performance, stating that in order for them to have a chance at the event, they must play as a unit. Moody also identifies the crucial elements that the squad needs to focus on in order to win their next match against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).
At the end of the day, LSG must work together. With Nicholas Pooran at the helm, they had a strong start to the season. However, players like Rishabh Pant haven’t had a good season because of his declining form, and David Miller has also struggled in that final position,” the former Australian all-rounder stated.
Their bowling unit has been under a great deal of strain as a result. At this point, they need their bowlers to give it their all. The batting needs to get much better. “Yes, they can effectively compete against Sunrisers if they can combine both of those factors,” Moody continued.
The next three games of LSG
Apart from the upcoming game against the Hyderabad franchise which will be taking place on May 19 at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow, the next two games will be tough for the Super Giants. The next game will be played against the Gujarat Titans (GT) on May 22 at the Narendra Modi Stadium and last game will against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on May 27 at their homeground.
